the whole idea of programming for me !

Hi,

Programming could be for some people only another work, but for me it
is mostly artistical. Why it that ?

I am given projects, goals of them i could like, others i could dislike
- who is interested to program a simple newsfeeder or another auto
backup tool ? But seeing below the goal, i can more see the way i am
gonna plan it, the way i am gonna program it, newsfeeder working with
soap to catch or insert news, the security layer to insure than none is
gonna add fake news (this is just an example of course), and how it
will be working with the "websites" or other softwares invoking it, a
whole schematic takes place in my mind about in time how to make a
perfect project, with technical advances compared to existants projects
to develop at least something better than what already exists.

So here programming is more than the goal of the program got to
achieve, it is mainly to mark the program by my unique mind and "hand"
: planning in the best way the program in all the existing layers :
user, cpu and memory usage, security , which means for me choosing the
good programming language for it and then writting my own code with my
own style following my planning. In that way, and in this state of
mind it is very easy for me not to care only about the goal but to
extend it for my clients to another dimension : something higher,
better more into the perspective they see.

To go back to my programming experiences, for instance now i always
love to insert into my projects a f(time) watchdog - Lets go back to
the example of the newsfeeder, i would really add an internal process
statistically showing who is checking, reading news and further going
on the ad news links to see exactly when to ask on the newsfeeder
editor manager side to add news : when the interest could be lost by
people reading the newsfeed. Which means an independant advice alert
box on the manager side that will change in function of the time
elapsed between news wrote into the newsfeed database, and compared to
an history of ad link clicks/time elapsed, and of course an upgrade
function to do an history of anything/time elapsed, to send other
advices or/and to perform other actions. This is what i like by f(time)
processing, it gives the program his little independance algorythm to
advice or perform actions, this is my real artistical touch.

Most of the projects i like, as you can see now are projects acting on
different elements and evolving in time (by user updates, or by
"itself" updates).

Most of my people back in France really dont think i am into art, but i
really think i am an artist by being a project manager and a programmer

So beside of making some money and survive this world, what is
programming for you? Art, work or both ? plus if programming is art ,
whats your artistical touch ? This little essay will permit you to know
me better, and for me to know you all better !

Programming to me is LOVE, I can express my feelings and concretize
ideas. Unfortunately it's not only my love it's my work too and in my
work i have to follow some rules to work in team, etc.
But when I sit in front of a computer to do my own programs, it's the
best, it's me!
