For those that haven't yet seen a 3D printer in action, here's your
chance:

Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) Event:
"3D Printing Lab: Open Lab"
.. Thursday August 24, 2017: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm [THIS Thursday]
.. Downtown Library: Secret Lab [basement]

They'll be demonstrating the "Printrbot Simple Metal 3D printer".

BTW.. This does NOT mean it "prints metal" as I originally thought
(darn).
The "metal" just refers to its construction.
It prints 1.75mm (a bit over 1/16") PLA and ABS, within a 15cm (~6")
cube @ 100 microns (~0.004") res. No hotbed or hotbox is included
in the base model (so without upgrades it may only reliably print PLA.)
Review of this model:

Also BTW.. If you're shopping for a 3D printer: There are now many
printers of similar design available at a much lower cost, but you
may still wish to check out this demo to see this design in action.
