Subject: AIA O.C. Trip to LACMA

When:  Saturday, February 7,  2009

Where:  Los Angeles County Museum Of Art [ LACMA ]

Time of Tour :  We will meet at the LACMA admissions booth, above the underground parking structure, at 10:30 am. on Saturday, February 7th.   Plan to leave the Mission Viejo area about 9:15 am.

Tour Description:  LACMA has one of the finest collections of  ancient West Mexico and Mesoamerican artifacts in the U.S.   These priceless archaeological artifacts have recently been re-installed in a new, permanent exhibition hall at LACMA by Dr. Virginia Fields, curator of Mesoamerican American art.   Dr. Fields has agreed to give our AIA O.C. Society members a personal tour of her exhibit.  This is a very unique opportunity to experience this spectacular exhibit with a renowned Mesoamerican scholar and the exhibit curator.   The exhibit also features ancient art/artifacts from Panama, Columbia, and Peru.

Following our exciting guided tour, we will walk about 2 blocks to Marie Calendar’s Restaurant for lunch and return to the South O.C. by about 3:30 pm..

Cost of Tour:  Admissions to LACMA for seniors ( 62+ ) is $8 and parking in the underground garage is $7/vehicle.
