When: Saturday, February 7, 2009 Where: Los Angeles County Museum Of Art [ LACMA ] Time of Tour : We will meet at the LACMA admissions booth, above the underground parking structure, at 10:30 am. on Saturday, February 7th. Plan to leave the Mission Viejo area about 9:15 am. Tour Description: LACMA has one of the finest collections of ancient West Mexico and Mesoamerican artifacts in the U.S. These priceless archaeological artifacts have recently been re-installed in a new, permanent exhibition hall at LACMA by Dr. Virginia Fields, curator of Mesoamerican American art. Dr. Fields has agreed to give our AIA O.C. Society members a personal tour of her exhibit. This is a very unique opportunity to experience this spectacular exhibit with a renowned Mesoamerican scholar and the exhibit curator. The exhibit also features ancient art/artifacts from Panama, Columbia, and Peru. Following our exciting guided tour, we will walk about 2 blocks to Marie Calendar’s Restaurant for lunch and return to the South O.C. by about 3:30 pm.. Cost of Tour: Admissions to LACMA for seniors ( 62+ ) is $8 and parking in the underground garage is $7/vehicle.
