The strength of the Cherokee District Advance A Rama has been the
quality of its instructors and the educational setting in which it is
conducted. Instructors are either UGA faculty or professionals from
throughout northeast Georgia. All have demonstrated expertise in the
subject area. The University of Georgia’s Warnell School is the
southeast’s oldest, and one of the most respected, forestry and
natural resource education providers in the United States. The
School's research and service programs are cutting edge and contribute
to the advancement of forestry and natural resource management and
conservation in Georgia, and across the world. In addition to the
Warnell School, Advance A Rama classes are taught in other UGA
departments as well as other sites in the local community. The
University of Georgia chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, the national service
fraternity plays an active role in conducting the Advance A Rama.
As with The Merit Badge University, the Cherokee District Advance A
Rama provides “directions for life” for by teaching Scouts Merit
Badges in a University setting.
