Dear Scouts and Scooters,

Please read below regarding the Cherokee District Fall 2007 Advance A Rama at the Warn ell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia.

WHEN:   September 22, 2007
WHAT:   Cherokee District Fall 2007 Advance A Rama - 20 different merit badge classes
WHERE:  Warn ell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia.
REGISTRATION: Open now thru September 12 at www.meritbadge.info  (online registration only)

A broad range of classes that are limited in size (maximum 15 students) to ensure a quality learning experience.  All classes are taught by instructors with unquestioned expertise in their respective fields.  Most classes are taught by UGA faculty.  Classes with seats still available include:

*       Architecture - taught by the University Architect for UGA.
*       Art - taught by artists in residence at the Lyndon House Art Center.
*       Bird Study - taught by a Warn ell faculty member with over 20 years experience on the interaction of humans and         gamesbirds - focus is on "Wildlife Ecology and Management" and "International Wildlife Issues."

*       Fire Safety - taught by the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department training division.
*       First Aid - taught by the Athens Regional Medical Center community training department.
*       Pulp and Paper - taught by faculty from the UGA College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and Director of      the Georgia Industrial Technology Partnership.

*       Radio - taught by the station manager of WUGA in the station studios.
*       Reptile and Amphibian Study - taught by a specialist in herpetology and animal behavior at the Warn ell School of       Forestry and Natural Resources - last year's class began with a "face to face introduction" to a live, four foot        alligator.

*       Sculpture - taught by Lamar Dodd School of Art faculty whose focus is aluminum and bronze casting.
*       Soil and Water conservation - taught by a Warn ell faculty member who specializes in "Watershed Management" and         "Wetland Restoration."

 
The focus of the Cherokee District Advance A Rama is to offer Scouts the opportunity to work hard and learn in a university environment and have a great time doing it.
