Hello YW Leaders- How did nearly all of November slip by so quickly? We are determined to get-ahead of the crazy December rush so we can focus on what is most important. . . honoring Christmas! Take a look at some upcoming activities to carry us through the remainder of 2014 and into the new year.
CABLE CARS: Wed, Dec 3 For YW/YM ages 16+. Meet at 7:30pm (cable car departs promptly at 8pm) at the turntables at the NE Corner of Hyde St & Beach St (near Aquatic Park & Ghiradelli Square.) We will take the Powell-Hyde line. Drivers should bring cash/quarters for the paid meters, or find a nearby parking garage. Those who arrive on-time will play a fun getting-to-know-you game.
Leaders should drive youth, and might consider stopping for food before/after (ie. Ghirardelli Square, In-N-Out.)
Contact any Stake YW leader if you need help with your ward carpool or if you have trouble finding us when you arrive to the City. (see cell numbers below)
STAKE YOUTH SUNDAY AT THE CRECHE: Dec 7 We will have a special Christmas Youth Block Meeting at the Crèche Exhibit again this year, on Sunday, December 7 , from 9:30 am – 11:30 am at the Middlefield Building in Palo Alto. This is for all youth in the stake, ages 12-18, in place of their regular Sunday meetings. YW and YM leaders are encouraged to attend. Leaders should drive youth from ward buildings/homes, as appropriate.

9:30-10:40am: Sacrament Meeting (Note: This is not a testimony meeting.) 10:40-11:30am: Crèche Tour (small groups) No food/No Linger Longer—fast Sunday.
NEW YEAR'S EVE DANCE: Dec 31 The last dance of the year is scheduled for New Year's Eve in Morgan Hill (1790 E. Dunne Ave) from 9pm-12:30am. All youth with a dance card are invited to attend. Dress is dressy.
STAKE YOUTH FIRESIDE: Jan 11 We've heard your feedback and will start 2015 off with a Stake YW/YM fireside. Current plan is to host our first Stake YW/YM fireside at the Stake Center from 7-8:30pm on Sunday, January 11. More specifics will be available shortly, so stay tuned and save the date.
STAKE YOUTH PRODUCTION: Feb 27-28 We are thrilled to have Erin McOmber and Carolyn Carnefix act as Co-Producers/Directors for the bi-annual Stake Youth Production. As you can imagine, they have already been working out some clever ideas to help the youth of our stake shine, whether as someone who signs/dances/acts, or helps with set design/costumes/publicity. There will be an activity for every girl and boy at each practice and at the rehearsal and performance, so please encourage all of your girls to come take part in what is sure to be another epic Menlo Park Stake Production! Please assist with rides and to help motivate your girls to participate. We will be doing outreach to many of you, asking for assistance with costumes, logistics, set build-out, etc. Below are a few details about practices (every Wednesday in February, at the Stake Center from 7-8:30pm.)
Goals:
1. Youth of stake connect across ward boundaries. 2. Youth get an opportunity to develop and magnify talents. 3. Youth feel of the Spirit as they work together, and build their testimonies. (ie. each rehearsal or activity starts with a 3-min, hi-impact spiritual moment.) 4. Each rehearsal/activity includes an element of FUN (ie. make milkshakes, play game, etc.) Members of the Stake YW/YM presidency facilitate this—perhaps do these at the beginning to encourage youth to be on-time. Feedback from last musical: · Kids love dancing. · Not really time for youth to memorize lines/speaking parts, so there are ways to work around that. · Microphones are not great at Stake center.
