Sunfest: A Hometown Family Fun Day, Saturday August 6th from 10am to
3pm. Featuring old-fashioned games and activities for "kids of all
ages", downtown on Clay Street. A sampling of activities includes a
bike & trike parade, watermelon seed spitting contest, water games and
an egg & spoon race. There will also be special activities by the
Alamance County Arts Council, Mebane Public Library & Museum of Life
and Science (Durham). This event will proceed rain or shine and most
events are free; so don't miss the opportunity to have some fun!
Here at Melville Trading Company many dealers will be offering
"specials" for our SunFest visitors. We're also thrilled to announce
that we'll have two special reasons to stop by our store.
First, "Bob Gunn, noted Nature Photographer and winner of the 2011
Raleigh Fine Arts Society Award for Photography, will be available at
his booth here at the Melville Trading Company during Sunfest. Bob
will be available to answer any questions about his work and will be
providing a free nature print to each child under the age of 12 when
accompanied by an adult."
Second, local author, Ricky Smith, will be in Melville Trading
Company on Saturday from 1-3pm to preview his new book, "Change for a
Dollar: A History of First Savings and Loan." All proceeds from this
title's sales will support the Mebane Historical Museum. Learn about
our local history while supporting the preservation of that same
history.
Plan on spending some time in downtown Mebane this Saturday.
