WHAT DOES THIS BABY HAVE TO
DO WITH MEGHAN'S MOUNTAIN ?
WELCOME TO THE MOUNTAIN, BABY MEGHAN
CAMPBELL
BORN FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2011
6 LBS, 14 OZ.
You might remember my telling you about Polly Matthews. That
wonderful, loving nurse that was one of Meghan's very first nurse's that took
care of her at Jewish Hospital when Meghan was first diagnosed with cancer. She
stayed by Meghan's side during that long first stay with the best of medical
knowledge, and with a special love and belief that yes, you can make it to your
mountaintop. Even on some of her off days, Polly would come and visit Meghan in
the hospital.
I knew that
love was special when Meghan left Jewish, Polly wheeling her down to the car in
that wheelchair, their embracing with tears in their eyes. A very special bond
had taken place between nurse and patient.
Polly told Meghan,
"You fight Meghan, for someday when I get married you will be in my wedding." So
it was, as I watched Meghan do a reading at Polly and David Campbell's wedding
in Carmi, Illinois, where she moved after her marriage to
David.
So what has this baby got
to do with Meghan's Mountain? You see, that love has become even stronger. Polly
gave birth on Friday, February 25th to a beautiful baby girl..and yes, she named
it Meghan, after Meghan Steinberg. Meghan will be Meghan's godmother and soon,
with God's blessings, we will be leaving for Carmi, Ill. so Meghan can hold her
godchild during the naming ceremony at Polly and David's
church.
It so happens that baby
Meghan was born at 10:57am, and at 11am, on that same day, Meghan found out that
the radiation put her cancer in remission. (Baby Meghan's initial due date was
for March 4th.)
My prayers..your
prayers..that Meghan Steinberg and Meghan Campbell walk hand in hand up a very
special mountain...for many, many years to come.
God bless you Meghan
Campbell, and you, Polly and David, for you have surely lighted the mountain
with a very special kind of love. And the hearts of both Meghan and
I.
As Meghan says, it's all
about love..and today, that love is so very, very special.
