                 I WISH YOU  HAD BEEN STANDING NEXT TO ME

                            "My dream is to live forever....so that I can love them all"

 

   Her name is Meghan and she is my daughter. That came naturally by way of birth. She is also my hero..that came the hard way...you see, she has fought cancer for over six years. During those six years plus, despite the greatest of challenges, she has somehow managed to make a difference in this world...she lights mountains for children and adults who seek the top of a mountain free from cancer.

   I wish you had been standing next to me. I saw a young girl, about 13 years, who had no hair, with a line going into her arm for the administration of drugs to fight cancer. She was enjoying one week of camp for free at Indian Summer Camp...a camp for kids with cancer who just want to be kids again. No one laughed at her for how she looked... they were all climbing the same mountain. That young girl gave my hero a hug..thank you for the $15,000.00 to keep our camp going so I can come back next year.

  I wish you had been standing next to me. Christmas morning was made brighter on the oncology floor of Kosair Children's Hospital as Meghan brought Santa and Mrs. Claus with gifts to each of the children that were fighting cancer.The smiles of those children, the laughter with Santa, the tears of happiness from their parents. They knew they were loved and not forgotten. They knew they would never again climb their mountain alone.

 June 11...at Louisville Athletic Club....to honor Meghan who is fighting her second battle against cancer..to make sure her "brothers and sisters" are not forgotten.

 I don't know your plans for June 11th, but for as little as $30 you can bring love to those that need us now...and you can let my hero know just how much we love her for what she does.
