Good morning L-ers,

Is anyone doing Point of Contact scanning at a remote location using Citrix?   We are having intermittent issues with the scanning session freezing (no error messages, just freezes up) in Admissions when scanning insurance cards, etc.   We have twain redirection set up correctly, but still no resolution.  Internally we can hit Citrix and scanning works fine.   We are thinking this is possibly a bandwidth issue at the remote site.   Any thoughts?

Thanks

I would be interested to hear potential solutions too.  We have held off implementing scanning via Citrix due to anticipated problems.

Thanks,

We’ve done it, and it appears to work pretty well.

I can check with our Network Admins to see if we had to do anything funky to make it work.

We do find from time to time a citrix session needs to be restarted, or the scanner rebooted, etc. but I’m not sure if that’s due to Citrix, or just the scanner itself.

We have not been able to support scanning via Citrix at any of our remote locations.  We do a full client install at the remote scanning station.  Using Citrix was just to unreliable for our needs.

When you say point of contact are you referring to medications or glucometers?  I am curious because our site is looking at utilizing citrix by next year.

I believe the conversation is about scanning documents at registration (Insurance Cards, ID’s, etc.) and not Medications or wrist bands.
