Hi All,

My facility is about to install Task+, which is a DTS management system (among other things) developed by Array Software. Array is asking for a OPS menu that will "allows us to sign on in programming mode, create directories and Enter/Edit Job Status." I've never built a menu in OPS before, so I'm flying blind. I found the Enter/Edit Custom Access Menu within OPS, but I'm not clear as to which menu options to give them.

I did contact Array to see if they could help me out, but they were just able to tell me what their menu looked like when they logged in. My contact stated that they typically open a Meditech session and are immediately taken to OPS where they enter an OPS Code. From there they have three options: Segment, Directory & Program. Those are not OPS menu options that I'm aware of, so I'm wondering if I have to configure their device with some specific program. I normally use MIS.signon, but I know there are others that I don't typically use.

Array seems to have many Magic clients, so I'm hoping someone out in L land will have done this before and be willing to guide me. Thank for reading, and for any help you might be able to provide!

I'm just not comfortable giving them full access. For instance, why would they need Caretaker? I've paired it down to what I think they'll need, and if it's not enough I'm sure they'll be able to name the routine so I can add it. I'd rather error on the side of caution than get nailed in an audit down the line.

Array Software will need full access to OPS. They will create directories (i.e. EXT.TSK) in your selected machine and load all the necessary programs.

Once they complete, they will give you the instructions on how to provide access to users. Here' what ours look like in MIS.USER dictionary per user:

Appl DB Type M/P Menu or Procedure/MAGIC Key Menu or Procedure
EXT.TSK OTHE M TSK.so(USR)

They can be trusted.

They get the prompts because their device is "unmanaged" (don't enter anything at the Seg, Dir?, or Pgm? Prompts at the bottom of the Enter/Edit Devices screen).

They have the standard Operators' Main Menu as their access in OPS here.

You can call me if you have further questions.

Long ago, in another world and time, I created Magic access and also used
Array. They actually create an Array directory so that their programs run
on your machine, if memory served me correctly. This is to create a
seamless link between Array and Meditech, as Array is written in the same
programming language that Meditech is.

I *think* the program for their sessions is Z.signon, but don't quote me
on that. Double-check with Meditech OPS - open a task and ask - this is
the same way that many of Meditech's sessions are managed. When I was in
IT, my sessions were managed there, too, so that I could get into parts of
OPS that weren't accessible from MIS.signon. C XXX.TEST566 (or
TEST566.XXX), TSK.XXX

The Array menu will be a Z. "link to other" menu and will show up in your
menu options as EXT.TSK.

Sorry, if could see the screens, I could be more specific. I give Array
two thumbs up and would have no qualms about giving them any access they
need. If you still have questions that your Array contact can't answer,
call Ted Malloy at Array directly and tell him I referred you to him.
He'll find you the help you need. :)

I LOVE Task+, too! Please let me know if you have any questions.

I do know that with Array you can set it up to monitor your caretaker and send you alerts when specific text is generated there.

Array and OPS menu:

If you have not restricted the Array device to a program and directory AND you have security turned on at the OPS level (which is almost always done), they will get an Operator: prompt when they connect and will need an "Operator Code".
After entering a valid Operator Code, they would get Segment/Directory/Program prompts, as they would be connecting to Meditech as an "unmanaged" user.

The Security Menu in OPS will allow you to create an operator and operator code and give that code to Array.
You will also be able to give them an Menu with E/E Job, which is what they are requesting.

You can create an "EXT.OPS" entry in the application database section of the user dictionary to allow a user to get to an Operator: prompt when their device is "Managed", this allows them to get to an Operator menu w/o running a Front End program from report.

If you don't already have an "EXT.OPS" MIS application database in your application dictionary, you will have to ask your MIS consultant at Meditech to create one. If you do, then you just enter "MENU" in the MENU/Procedure column.

Array would want E/E Job so they can spy on or kill jobs of their programs. They might want the CareTaker also so they can monitor other events in your magic system.
