Good Morning!

Does anyone use MEDITECH for BBK QC? If so, do you use a worksheet,
spreadsheet or ????

Thanks in advance,

Our blood bank uses a worksheet/spreadsheet for blood bank QC. The
worksheet is defined with the QC Material listed on the third page.
Please let me know if you have specific questions.

We are using a worksheet. It was a challenge to figure out how to build it, and the Tech who mapped it all out is not longer here (wah), but I can try to explain it.
We don't use the "task" routines in Meditech, so our non-reagent testing processes are captured on the worksheet too (equipment checking, releasing crossmatches, etc...). For example, a test called "AM QC TESTS" (AMQCT) has result options defined on page 3 such as "Acceptable", "Not Acceptable", Done", "New Bottle". Basically any type of response to a "task". AMQCT is then linked in the QC Material dictionary to certain entries, like one we created to document MTS centrifuge function, "CST" (centrifuge speed & countdown time). The lot number for non-reagent items is "TASK". So, on the worksheet, "AMQCT" is entered as a test on page 2, and "CST" is entered as a QC Material on page 3.
For reagent QC, each part of the 3-cell control system is built as a "test" and linked to QC Material dictionary entries for each reagent tested For example, the Red cell control #1 ("O1") is a test with result options of any possible reaction. O1 is entered as the test for QC Material Anti-A reagent serum ("AA"). "O1" is in the worksheet as a test on page 2, and "AA" is on page 3 as a QC Material.

We ended up with only nine "tests" built just for the QC worksheet to cover everything - tests are used on multiple QC Materials, so some have many result options. We also have a spreadsheet.
If anyone wants more information or examples, let me know. It's hard to describe it. I think it's the most complicated thing we did when implementing BBK!

Good Day L'ers

When we went live with BBK in 1999, we chose not to utilize the QC in
Meditech. The QC routine just seemed very cumbersome and time consuming I
designed a "TEST" that is ordered on Monday of each week. We bring in
canned text that allows entry of the QC for the week. The test is not
finalized (just filed) until the QC is checked by the supervisor. This has
worked well for us for many years and takes very little time each week.
