Has anyone gone from the ACS180 to Centaur for chemiluminescence tests? I
have heard that the Meditech interface for the ACS180 may work well with
the Centaur. Has anyone tried that? Does it work? We are trying to rush
the installation of the Centaurs and were told this might work as the two
instruments are similar. Not only will this save time, but money, too.

The MEDITECH standard eMAR Administration Report which we intend to use for
a downtime report, does not include patient allergies. Has anyone created
a custom report to include patient allergies? If so, would you be willing
to share it? If not, what is your procedure for viewing patient allergies
in a downtime situation?

We'll It's not quite working yet. Put the /R.PAGE.NUM on the report so
I could see it and the 1 for page one actually prints on page 2 and the
2 prints on page 3, etc... On page 1 the real page one, it prints
nothing. This is a pretty complex report - so I don't know why it's
working this way.
Anyway I tried different variations with no luck yet. I've tried
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=1
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=0
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=""
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=" "
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM>0
And I either get the header printing on all pages including page 1 or
not at all. Any suggestions on the syntax?
Thanks
Richard
Could you do a LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=1 on the first line of the region and
LCR=END on the last line?

Is there away to modify an NPR report "Magic" - that will print a page
header starting with the 2nd page. I have a report header on the 1st
page, and then I don't want the page header to start until the 2nd page
and to print on all pages there after.

We are Magic 5.62 pp14 and have a bunch of pharmacy issues that have DTS
that is still in Development. I would check the billing of medications
from a dispensing machine. This is our biggest problem and our patients
are being charged double. We are not sure if it has something to do with
linking the medications as alternating or concurrent but these are the meds
that seem to be affected the most. If the patient was dispensed 2 tabs of
Vicodin, they are being charged 4. B/AR has to correct all of these
accounts by hand and this has been discovered since Feb 2nd.
Also, the restrict BMV by location is receiving a please rescan error
message when that location does not need to scan.
I am wondering if 5.63 has any of these problems above.

We will be purchasing some mobile computers in the near future and I am
curious about what other organizations are using. If you use a computer
on wheels and like the computer and cart you selected, please email me
the name of both that you purchased. I am also interested in finding out
about battery life management - especially on units that are open 24
hours. If you use a handheld device instead of a portable computer, I
would like to know that as well and which one you use.
Thanks!

Here is a possible solution. I have a fragment in MRI.ALLERGY that I
call from a number of reports in order to show the allergies on a
patient in a format that looks something like this (I'm making up some
allergies here):
SULFA, CODEINE, EGGS, DAIRY, WHEAT, SNICKERS BARS, TOO MUCH SLEEP,
MUD PUDDLES, DOGGIE TREATS, JUNIPER BERRIES
This one takes what is essentially a multiple and lines it up
horizontally in 76-character (or less) lines with commas.
The way it works is to call this macro (the logic of which was obtained
from Meditech's KB) in the detail region of the segment
patient.allergies with this footnote: AL D allergies.
; nil out our /ALL array so as not to carry over values from one record
to the next
DO{+/ALL[SUB]^SUB ""^/ALL[SUB]},
; set the value of the variable, nil out the seq no, set one to our
array subscript
""^allergy,
1^CT,
; loop on the multiple
DO{@Next(allergy) @SET}
SET
; load the allergy name into the variable NAM
@allergy.name^NAM,
@type^TYP,
;
; check the length of the current value concatenated with a comma, space
and name
; if the length is less than 76 characters, then concatenate a comm,
space and name
;
IF{TYP="Allergy" IF{L(/ALL[CT]_", "_NAM)<76 /ALL[CT]_", "_NAM^/ALL[CT];
;
; if the value is 76 or more in length, place a comma at the end
of
;the current value and increment our array subscript to build a
;new value into the array.
;
/ALL[CT]_","^/ALL[CT],
1+CT^CT,/ALL[CT]_", "_NAM^/ALL[CT]}}
This macro is followed up with a LC of "LC=IF{/ALL[1]}" on the first
detail line with a variable defined thus:
xx.name1
DAT=FREE
JFY=L
LEN=76
VAL=/ALL[1]%1
On the second detail line, I have an ECB Code of:
ECB=1^QUE,DO{+/ALL[QUE]^QUE .,
ECE=.},
And a variable defined as:
xx.name2
DAT=FREE
JFY=L
LEN=76
VAL=/ALL[QUE]%1
If I were to attempt what you are trying to do, I would start with this
logic.

Recently, we began converting some of our PC's to Office 2007. It has
come to light that although reports can be signed, viewed, printed, and
faxed with Microsoft word 2007, our documents are unable to be edited by
our physicians?!?! Has anyone out there converted to Office 2007 and
encountered this issue with ITS reports???

We'll It's not quite working yet. Put the /R.PAGE.NUM on the report so
I could see it and the 1 for page one actually prints on page 2 and the

nothing. This is a pretty complex report - so I don't know why it's
working this way.
Anyway I tried different variations with no luck yet. I've tried
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=1
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=0
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=""
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM'=" "
LCR=/R.PAGE.NUM>0
And I either get the header printing on all pages including page 1 or
not at all. Any suggestions on the syntax?

LCR=END on the last line?

Hi All,
In Magic 5.4 we can archive the following NUR data to optical disk:
ASSESSMENTS
PLAN OF CARE
PATIENT NOTES
AUDIT
PROFILE
RAI ASSESSMENTS
Assessments, Plan of Care, Patient Notes and RAI Assessments are all
fairly straightforward in that Meditech provides a standard format. The
Audit and the Profile obviously have a lot of flexibility in how they can
be set up. However, it seems to me as if sending most/all Audit and
Profile formats to OD would redundantly archive a lot data already covered
in the Assessments, Plan of Care, Notes and RAI Assessments. Is anyone
finding it useful to archive the Audit and Profile? If so, why?
Thanks!

Posting on behalf of my colleague...
OE DTS 9390 allows sites to select a different two-character mnemonic
for bedtime snack rather than use HS since HS is on the list of "do-not
use abbreviations"
If you have opted to change this mnemonic, what are you using?
If you have opted to continue using HS, have there been any issues?

I have been asked for an NPR report.
The problem is... we have gone through a merger, so now all activity passes
to 1 BAR system, versus two separate BAR systems.
SO, I am curious has anyone developed or can suggest where to begin to set
up this task.
I think of unique identifiers, and I first thought of bday, SSN, maybe
insurance policy number.
Medical record numbers won''t work, because the MR#'s are different to

Any ideas, recommendations?

We are currently on version 5.62 and using Magic ITS for transcription.
We are having several issues with transcription; for example: losing
reports daily, blue screens, users get kicked to goodbye in the middle
of filing a report, typing a report, etc. I opened a ticket with
Meditech on 2/14/08 and they can't not find a fix for our problems. Has
anyone had any type of problems similiar to these? Meditech suggested
that Microsoft Word was causing the problems and that Word needed
uninstalled and reinstalled, however, we did this and it made no
difference at all. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you
and have a good day.

Are you Magic or CS?
There are 'higher levels' of a patient identifier, beyond the Unit Number.
Depends on Magic or CS what Meditech calls this.... if Magic, it is an EPI
#. If CS, it is EMR number....
We are using in multiple facilities, one BAR, but more info on what you're
trying to do may help.
(We're also multiple MIS's... but not yet Live with these in CS) I don't
think you can link across MIS's in Magic, but we will be doing this in CS
for patient EHR.

we are a Magic 5.61 facility.
Our CFO was curious if we could write this in bar, for combining charges...
This a little more involved than what I have dealt with in the past, light
macro, some do loops.
I am honestly not sure where to begin with this...
they want to count a visit at our other facility as a same day visit... to
combine charges, and not sure if EPI # would do it since the medical record
systems are still separate...
My brain is twitzled over this task!

Are you in one MRI? Magic EPI is still higher than multiple MRI databases,
but it is a parameter setting to turn on. Also won't work well if you have
training difficulties with staff selecting the correct patient.
The BAR In/Out Exception report reports across multiple facilities...

We switched to Office 2007 last year and the physicians CAN edit documents.
Meditech has to change a flag first. Once that switch is thrown, they say
you cannot return to 2000. That said, I don't recommend switching. There
are too many things you cannot do in Word 2007 inside of Meditech such as
add a word in spell check. Meditech clearly isn't ready to support this
product. Our transcriptionists have needed to make many time consuming
adjustments.
If your transcriptionists are saving in 2007 format, the physicians would
need 2007 to edit or, at minimum, would need the add-in that allows 2007
documents to be opened in earlier versions. Until we had all of our
computers converted to 2007, we had the transcriptionists saving in 2000
format so any computer could open/edit.

Even if you could recreate a patient bill or statement, it won't update the
account with a comment that the bill/statement was created.
Your best bet is to pursue a custom patient bill or statement. This way it
works in BAR as intended.

Thanks!

Hello L,
I have asked Meditech for help in creating a "pop-up" message in a PT
REG CDS and they said it's not possible to make it work the way I intend
to use it. So, I'm asking you guys for your opinion. I'm pretty sure
I've seen this at another Meditech facility though it was a Magic
facility and not Client Server like we are here.
I would like a pop-up message to appear when a specific value is present
as the answer to a custom query. For example, if a field's value is "Y"
then a pop-up message could come up saying "THIS IS THE MESSAGE".
Is this really not possible???
Thanks!

Does anyone have a simple outpatient report for MD's.... we have a
doctor complaining about how much "white space" is on the reports. she
essentially wants a list of the tests and results and ranges etc. sort
of like this:
Lab:

mEq/L
K | 5.0 | | 3.4-5.2

TOT PROT | 8.0 | | 6.1-8.2 gm/dL
Micro:

If you get my drift. I never built the lab reports... I see her point
but it is taking forever to figure this out. I appreciate any help.

We are using the Meditech Magic 5.61 Bed Board
1. Nursing enters an order into Meditech when the attending physician
writes a discharge order. The requisition prints out on the Bed Control
printer and the bed Bed Control staff is responsible for flagging the
patient with a "pending discharge" on the Meditech Bed Board.
2. Nursing uses the Bed Board to discharge patients. This triggers a
page to EVS and prints a notice to Bed Control.
3. Charge nurses are responsible for verifying once a shift that the
Bed Board is accurate and reflects the correct census, isolation
patients are designated correctly, and blocked beds are also correctly
identified.
4. Our nursing "Bed Czar" who makes patient bed assignment decisions
during the busiest times of the week uses a Fujitsu tablet PC on rounds
to view both the Meditech Bed Board and the ED patient tracking board
(Allscripts) to stay on top of the patients waiting for beds in the ED.
5. The Bed Board is configured to page EVS when the patient vacates
the bed because the patient has either been transferred out of the bed
or because the patient has been discharged.
6. We have purchased and implemented the Bed Ready interface from
Forward Advantage so EVS calls in when they start cleaning the bed
and then again when they finished cleaning the bed. These calls update
the bed status on the Bed Board.
7. We have purchased a custom enhancement so that the bed displays
green on the Bed Board when EVS is in the process of cleaning it.
8. We outsourced our EVS productivity report to Iatric so that it
captures the turn around times between
- when the bed was vacated and the first call from
EVS
- the first call from EVS and the second call from
EVS
- When the bed was vacated and the second call
from EVS
9. We are planning to use the Bed Board Transport features for
transporting patients to and from Radiology in the near future.

Last week I asked a couple of questions, neither of which received any
responses. I am posting again for help.
I received the first one from our pharmacy safety coordinator concerning
a Joint Commission standard.
According to the standard (MM.05.01.01):
"Before dispensing or removing medications from floor stock or from an
automated storage and distribution device, a pharmacist reviews all
medication orders or prescriptions unless a licensed independent
practitioner controls the ordering, preparation, and administration of
the medication or when a delay would harm the patient in an urgent
situation (including sudden changes in a patient's clinical status), in
accordance with law and regulation." (In Illinois an LIP is an MD, DO,
APN, Nurse Anesthetist, or PA)
Right now the only area of the hospital that the JC does not hold
accountable for prospective review by a pharmacist is the ED. The
standard does apply to PACU. If we were surveyed today we could be
cited for failure to comply.
How are other places handling this and what is your the turn-around
time? )These areas are NOT on POM.
Secondly, I am looking for some input into the daily/visit assessment
for outpatient Chemo Clinic. We have the admission assessment for the
first visit, but the Care Coordinator and the Educator want to do more
than just take our paper forms, which primarily have to do with the
chemo infusion only, and put them on-line. We do NOT have Meditech's
Oncology module.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Sandra-
We ran into that problem particularly in the CAMPY Bags. We really didn't
have the problem with the moisture, I believe that it was the gas. We
ended up going to thermal transfer printing (instead of direct thermal) and
that took care of the problem for us. Of course we still had to change
labels so that they worked well with the thermal transfer.
Have a good day,

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Macro Update: 5.62 Multiple-Check Lookup
To: <medit...@mtusers.com>
Message-ID: <49B631B10200...@sigma.catawbavalleymc.org>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII
** High Priority **
Opps!! I sent out an email about six weeks ago where I stated that I
had tested the multiple checkmark group look-up macro that originated
from Iatric Systems and modified for 5.61 version and that all was well.
Well.... I did test it... I just didn't recognize that I had moved and
translated the macro to our TEST 5.62 BEFORE the 5.62 code was in place.
Since it was already translated, it worked great! But I have now
discovered that when tranlating in 5.62, you get an error message
stating, "Syntax- ^/. or ^/R.TF - not allowed!"
I did some hunting and found that there is line of code that contains:
@Cursor.off
that when translated becomes:
IF{D(14,0)^/.CURSOR}^#,
which is now illegal! (Courtesy of our friends at Meditech!)
To get around this, you simply need to replace one line of code as
below. If you do not already have the report with the macro, I will be
glad to send it to you (off of the "L" to save Gil some $).
To fix the macro for 5.62 (if you have already corrected the issues
encountered with 5.61):
1) Go to the NPR report macros for Z.zcus.is.muse (unless you renamed
it something else),
2) Open the macro called "pop.alpha",
3) Find the local macro called "DRAW.OK.BUTTON" (near the bottom).
Looks like:
DRAW.OK.BUTTON
@Cursor.off("")^#,
" Enter Selected Items "^BUT,
%Z.pf.length(BUT,1)+5^BW,
@Pos(0,20)^#,
@Button.create(0,3,0,BW,16,0,BUT)^/BID["LU","OK"],
"OK"^/BIDX["LU",/BID["LU","OK"]]
4) Replace the entire line with @Cursor.off("")^#, with these two
lines:
".CURSOR"^ZX.CURSOR,
IF{D(14,0)^/[ZX.CURSOR]}^#,
making it:
DRAW.OK.BUTTON
".CURSOR"^ZX.CURSOR,
IF{D(14,0)^/[ZX.CURSOR]}^#,
" Enter Selected Items "^BUT,
%Z.pf.length(BUT,1)+5^BW,
@Pos(0,20)^#,
@Button.create(0,3,0,BW,16,0,BUT)^/BID["LU","OK"],
"OK"^/BIDX["LU",/BID["LU","OK"]]
You should now be able to file and translate with any problems! Sorry
for the earlier confusion!

We are in the midst of preparing for our upgrade from 5.5.2 to 5.6.4.
We are C/S.
Does anyone have any ideas for how to determine if CDS's and QUERIES are
attached to active routines/tests/procedures/categories? And then, if
they are being used?
We are clueless as to how to pursue this piece of the project.
Any advice is certainly appreciated!

Hello,
Hoping I can get some knowledge from someone. We are a Magic 5.61 sr 10
site that are going up with an OV for BMV, but using an interface to charge
and chart in Meditech's EMAR.
We have ORM currently and are documenting medications within the profile.
Question. Those that have ORM and BMV/EMAR. How are you handling when a
patient changes location for billing? Are you billing on dispense or
administration?
How are you handling multidose vials?
Any insight would be great. We are looking for knowledge to make sure our
charges would be accurate.
Thanks,

Hi,
We are Magic 5.5 SR3.
Is there a way to write a rule to flag if a procedure is being ordered,
and there is already a certain number of that procedure on the patients
account? Not the same ordering session, the entire stay.
For example...patient cannot have more than 6 ultrasounds for entire
length of stay, so
Pt had an ultrasound
3-1-09
3-2-09
3-3-09
3-4-09
3-5-09
3-6-09
Tech then enters an order on 3-7-09 for an ultrasound, we would like a
message stating..
Patient has already had 6 ultrasounds

Pat,
Here is the one that Meditech helped me with. I don't have it on
individual meds, but in the CDPs. I have the error message since there
are instances where a PRN can be give <2 hours after the first dose
(example Nitro). Hope this helps.
(In addition, maybe your # of seconds is too long...but I'm not sure
what the Z%time function does. 4 hours would be 14400 seconds).

I have tried every attribute I can find in the Meditech L archives, as
well as other websites, and I am still having problems.
I need an attribute for an OE PROC type CDS.
1. I need to make the query response required on a query if the Pt
Status is ADM IN or ADM INo.
2. I would like the query to be totally skipped for all other patient
Types.
Does anyone have this attribute that they would share with me?

Hello fellow Meditech users,
I am wondering if anyone is utilizing EDM to electronically calculate a
level of care (Facility Level E & M code)?
If so can you share how it is working and a brief synopsis of how you have
this set up?
If not what tool do you utilize? (We use a worksheet developed years ago
that nursing completes, then selects a level of care on an EDM Billing
Assessment that drops the charge).
Here is an example of one I just found,
http://www.acep.org/practres.aspx?id=30428 does anyone use this tool?
Is anyone willing to share their distribution of facility E & M charges?
Here is a link to ED Provider E & M charges
http://www.acep.org/practres.aspx?id=30430 . If anyone knows of a similar
document that shows facility utilization, please share.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. We are currently
re-evaluating our tool and were hoping to get feedback regarding what other
facilities are doing

Have been asked to build an NPR report in PCS from the IV/Invasive Line

Can someone share a similar report that they have already built? Have
