Position: Clinical Systems Analyst
Position Description:
Reporting to the Director of Information Systems, the Clinical Systems
Analyst is responsible for assuring the overall maintenance and/or new
implementations of the hospital's Health Care Information System
(HCIS) clinical modules as well as interdisciplinary documentation
through collaboration with other team members. The Clinical Systems
Analyst will analyze, design, program, test and implement computer
systems, sub-systems or modifications to existing systems in
accordance with user defined and/or vendor supplied specifications.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for
MEDITECH Clinical applications such as NUR, OE, PCI, LAB, PHA, PDOC,
EDM, PCM, ORM, RAD as well as other vendor applications supporting
clinical processes. This position will design/develop reports of
varying complexity using NPR Report Writer. This position will also be
called upon to provide support to various MEDITECH interfaces (HL7 or
NMI) as needed.
Duties include:
- Design, prepare and test program logic using specialized programming
tools, i.e., NPR & MAGIC, and other software development tools as
provided by software vendor. Ensure validity of processes by providing
adequate cross-checks to standard system and internal documents.
- Analyze current workflow processes; recommends alternative methods
of deriving input data to select the most feasible and economical
methods. Present system proposals to Department Directors and/or other
Medical Center personnel as needed.
- Assume a leadership role in discussions with medical staff,
management personnel, and department directors to ascertain specific
application and/or report requirements. Present several alternative
solutions, and advises senior management on best courses of action.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the interrelationships of all
clinical systems and lead group discussions where these relationships
are considered.
- Confer with Department Directors to gather information necessary to
develop system implementation plans and processes. Recommend course of
action for problem resolution and/or system implementation to Director
of Management Information Systems.
- Analyze business and technical problems for departments as
requested; recommends alternative work flow processes and/or
supporting electronic data processing solutions.
- Accept and perform other work as assigned / assume duties of others
during absences when assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information
Systems, Health Care Administration, Business, Nursing, or equivalent
combination of experience and education.
Special Skills: Highly motivated and possess skills in analyzing
information; managing complex projects across broad stakeholders;
read, write and understand English
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Clinical role in a Healthcare setting.
- Hands-on implementation, application support, and training
experience with MEDITECH Clinical modules such as: NUR, OE, ORM, PCM,
BMV, etc.
- Sound understanding of clinical workflows and ability to work with
all levels of clinical personnel.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to work
independently of direct supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem
solving skills.
- Deep understanding and demonstrated ability to develop NPR reports.
- Project management experience.
- RN or other senior role in a clinical background is highly preferred.
Pre-placement Screening:
Must have a negative result on a drug screen, a satisfactory medical
exam that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential physical
demands of the position, and a criminal background check that results
in no findings of a relevant offense.
