We have a Clinitek Advantus analyzer and are trying to get it to work.
We used to have a Clinitek 100 that worked. We put the Advantus on the
same port of the IP terminal server, figuring that would save setup.
However, the 100 had a 25 pin serial port and the Advantus has a 9.
After much research and digging into the port adapter of the old 100, I
was able to setup a 9 pin adapter to the correct wiring.

We have made sure that all the settings in the terminal server,
Meditech, and the Advantus are set correctly.

We are unable to even get a loopback test, let alone a device watch.

Is there any hospital out there that has a Clinitek Advantus, Meditech
Magic (true Magic, not OSAL), and either a Maxserver 1620 or equivalent
terminal server, that has their connection working properly? If so, I'd
really like detailed information on how your Cat 5 wire is setup (I'd
have expected normal Ethernet style wiring, but I may be wrong), the
pinning on both your adapter and terminal server ends, and anything
special you may have run into to get a device watch to work.

Thanks for your help.

We interfaced our ADVANTUS a couple years back. It had an internal NIC
(Lantronix), so we went the direct IP route. Feel free to contact me.
We are MAGIC 5.63.

Thank you. Two responses and both set up on normal network, like I want
to. Meditech says no. Thank you.

Thank you!! I wanted to do that the moment I saw this thing has an
Ethernet port, and Meditech says it can't be done. Both responses I
received say it can! Thank you.

I just got one of these working but not using the serial port. The
Advantus has a NIC card built in so I connected directly to a switch
port and not a terminal server port and got a static IP address from my
networking group. There were a few settings I had to be sure were
correct on the analyzer and it just worked. You need to define the IP
address in open systems #15. Then define that as a printer in #26 on
that same menu. For the Advantus the TCP Port must be 10001

We are actually moving 3 of these live on Monday. Call or write if you
have questions. I will have to find my notes for the set up on the
analyzer or you can call Siemens tech support. Using an IP address made
my network people happy because they want to retire all the old term
servers.

Ron, if you converted the 100's 25-pin to 9-pin it would be wrong. The Advantus is a DTE-5 (the 100 is DTE-2)
For a Xyplex or Digi TS it is the standard 2,3,5 pins but then you need to jump 4+6 as well as 7+8

Please note, my email address has changed
