We are Magic 5.66 and wanted to know how other sites notify their radiology department inpatient has x-ray orders. We tried creating a print rule and an OA message attached to the order. However we do not temp locate the patient so we cannot limit by location. Our inpatient dept want to limit the number of emails or print jobs for just inpatients. Also a lot of our orders are placed in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Have you thought about giving them a private status board that shows new Radiology orders?

Judy,
So, I take it you DO NOT HAVE THE RADIOLOGY MODULE, and you use OE for your IMAGING ORDERS.
We have the RAD MODULE and we are MAGIC 5.6 as well, so we have paper requisitions that print… which would be tragic (according to staff) to get rid of. We simple shred them after the test is completed.
But, during say, printer malfunctions… Yes, Judy is correct, A PACS system (ours is Fuji Synapse) displays a work list, which, like an excel spreadsheet, can be filtered for each imaging area, (CT, RAD, MRI, etc…)
This should work for your IN-Patient question.

You can also set the preference to see by the ADM status of the patient. For C/S we don’t want to see PRE-CLI or just scheduled patients so we exclude them from the technologists desktop.
For C/S you can have the individual user set their own or you can also set preferences at the access level.
Thanks!
Julie
