We are currently at Magic 5.62, and are scheduled to take delivery of Meditech 6.0 in TEST early next year (2011). We have used several Magic Picis products (MedQM, MedSurg, MedDietary, and MedCred) for several years. These old MAGIC modules will not "work" with Meditech 6.0. There is a huge amount of data in our MSM system that must be maintained for regulatory, statistical, and evidentiary reasons. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do to "save" all of the MSM data so that it could be queried?

Cynthia,

It is true that you will no longer be able to use the 3.x workstations for scripting when you migrate to Meditech 6.0. However, Greg Weber from Picis has indicated to me that they have been using C/S screens for many years along with many customers. Your fears of autokey (3.x wkstations and scripting) via MedSurg and the interface feeds should at least be alleviated as they do integrate with 6.0 (which is technically calling C/S still for many apps outside of advanced clinical). Why would/how changing Meditech platforms effect your Picis db's.... the sequel tables will still exist and can be pulled and queried?

Thanks!

One of the issues we faced when moving from Magic to CS was the fact that CS doesn't support UDP transactions, only TCP/IP... and the versus of Picis we had would only support UDP...

Cindy

Cynthia,

Thanks!

I worked at Picis(MSM) for 13 years.
They have a repository product which at the time I worked there would extract the data in question.
It extracted fine when I was there.
I would talk to them about it.
Thanks,

Hi Cynthia,

We have MT C/S 5.55 and Picis MSM (only MedQM version 6.36 --in LIVE/7.5
in TEST-- still need to upgrade), I connect to the SQL Server w/ODBC
link to the tables/views and report write out of MS Access. My MSM data
is stored on the SQL Server. In the past, I am still able to access my
data and MedQM when MT is not available (down). The data from MT is not
updated, but I can still retrieve my saved cases in MedQM. I would
check w/PICIS since they would be able to tell you best about accessing
the your data after your upgrade.
