I am utilizing the routine MIS.OA.MSG.auto to generate custom email messages from an NPR macro. The sender of the email is 'Meditech.alerts'. Is there any way to modify the sender? I'm assuming not, but was hoping someone might have a solution.

Hi Marilyn,
Using the MIS.OA.MSG.auto program, there is no way to change the recipient, it will actually use the MIS.PARAM.mail.recipient field. The MIS.OA.MSG.auto program really uses the %Z.mail program to do the emailing, so you could change your reports to call that program directly, which allows you to pass in a different recipient.

Bryce

Hi Trish,
Here is our experience at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. We are now Magic 5.66 but went LIVE with CPOE about a year ago with 5.64 with our hospitalists only. We are an 86-bed level 3 trauma center. We have a small population of pediatrics and did not go LIVE with any weight-based strings or additive/component functionality other than PHA strings. We are not currently using CPOE for any pediatric or NICU populations.
***************************************************
Following are a couple of questions that we are benchmarking

1. Do any sites similar to our size have a dedicated Pharmacist for IS related issues and/or projects---we have 2 dedicated informatics pharmacist FTE's (these include a staffing component of about 10 hours/biweekly pay period); duties include FSV maintenance, formulary maintenance, as well as CPOE/PHA/RXM/ONC build and interface support. We spent about 12 months total (6 months on RXM/PHA optimization followed by 5 months build time to CPOE LIVE followed by 1 month intensive support).

2. Does the dedicated Pharmacist report to Pharmacy or IS (both---budgeted under IS but paid under Pharmacy; managed jointly)

3. What type of Human Resources were needed for the CPOE project (# Pharmacists, techs etc)--2 fulltime pharmacists as above, plus 1 consultant pharmacist for a short period of time (about 10 weeks) and several ad lib pharmacist work days (about 30 total days); this assumes your site is optimized with PHA and RXM per Meditech's build recommendations prior to starting CPOE build. This does not include other IT staff such as clinical nursing, physician champion, etc.---this is pharmacy only.

4. Was Pharmacy actively involved in the Physician Training for Medication Ordering---Yes; a pharmacist teaches the medication ordering sections for each physician with/without order sets; we use a "training script" to present pre-defined scenarios for teaching

5. How are issues addressed that come up during off shifts, weekends and/or holidays (on-call system, or someone
actually available in house)---we have an on-call pharmacist pager and an on-call/ on-site "Green Team" CPOE support person who is 1st call; we did provide 24/7 on-site support post-go-LIVE

6. Post LIVE support - did you keep a dedicated pharmacist on board for maintenance of any IS related issues---As we only came up with our hospitalist group, we are phasing in new groups (Family Practice, Critical Care, Pediatrics to come) so the build and support are ongoing; we do not anticipate decreasing pharmacist FTE's

Hope this helps,
Becky

Does anyone know how to define a Term Server for workstation names when putting in CPOE orders. Remote doctors change their workstations and we are running the risk of missing order due to their workstations not being defined in Meditech.

Thanks,

We are a Client Server 5.66 site & are in the process of building an IT Financial Ladder. I am our sites IT Financial Analyst & support the ABS, ADM, AP, BAR, ESS, FA, GL, HR, MIS, MM, MRI, SCA, PP, SCH, LSS (SCH,REG, & PBR). I also help with support on NPR, NMI, & various other clinical applications when needed.

I hope to incorporate number of applications supported, possibly years of service, &/or education. I have seen Clinical & nursing ladders but have thus far not been able to locate anyone that is either in the building process of an IT financial ladder or already has one in use. If anyone has any form of a ladder that is used from the IT support that they would be willing to share with me or any resources that are available I would greatly appreciate your help/guidance. Thanks, JoAnn

We put a crossmatch card with the unit, that is the only Meditech thing that associates the unit with a patient. mkk"

Our blood bank supervisor wants me to ask a question about BBK procedures to the L. Does anyone on the use a meditech generated label to attach to a unit of blood with patient specific info prior to issue? We are looking at replacing our current patient armband and unit labeling system (manual) that we currently use for a more electronic driven process. Do you use the L# or the M# as your main patient number and do you use R#'s for your wristbands? Thank you for any info.

My BBK supervisor wanted me to check on the L about ISBT labels and the last three digits of the unit number. What are you doing with the last three digits of the unit number where the two numbers are on their side and then a letter or symbol at the very end? There has been a little confusion from our blood supplier as to the requirements of having those drop into Meditech. Thanks for any info you can send me.

Good Morning. I was wondering if there are any Meditech users out there that have interfaced the OPTI TOUCH CCA Blood Gas analyzers. Did you use an analyzer interface or a POC interface? We have two that we use that we would like to interface. Another question would be if you are using TELCOR, RALS or another POC Data management system with them.

Does anyone have a work around for the PCS Occurrences/Repeatables in PDOC? In our wound care clinic, nurses use one assessment to document
all wounds by adding occurrences for each wound. Meditech is telling
us since occurrences use the same queries on each occurrence, PDOC can differentiate between the repeated assessments. There is a proposal for the functionality to be added to PDOC but you know how long those can take. We may have up to 20 wounds on one person so the ability to add occurrences as needed works well for the wound care. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming that you're basing the status on whether a receipt has been posted, so can you look for that procedure type? I think it's item.procedure's.type = "RCP"? Do you also post a $0 for a denial? So item.procedure's.amount >.01?

Hello,
We are a 6.x site and I am looking to see if anyone has a step magic code written to enter in the Reimbursement Dictionary for Co Pay amounts. The amount would come from the insurance copay field. We would like the code to transfer the amount to the SP field.

We are trying to generate a copay letter for ED patient who have not or could not pay there copay's at the time of visit. In the letters there is not a value for insurance copay's just patient balance.

Or if you know of another way to do this that would be helpful also.

Thank you,
Patti

I'm usually good with attributes but this one is aggravating me! I want to default in the patients service date if the answer to NURCL06 is Y.... Can anyone see where I went wrong?

DFT=(IF{/[ANS%0,"NURCL06"]|0="Y" @p.ADM.PAT.service.date})

Thanks,
Sam

Hi Samantha,

I'm not sure exactly where the issue is, but you shouldn't need the /[ANS%0, just [ANS should suffice. If you're in a registration CDS it's possible that the service date has not yet filed to the permanent
(*) database, so the second IF statement below would grab the temporary service date first, if one exists.

DFT=IF{"Y"=[ANS,"NURCL06"]|0
IF{@t.ADM.PAT.service.date;@p.ADM.PAT.service.date}}

Good luck,
