We use a product called RAPID/INDIGO from Medisolv. It has met our business intelligence needs and we have been able to develop and implement our corporate scorecard/dashboard solutions. We also use the iPeople Direct driver for the data extraction component.
We focus on standardization at key points of entry e.g. registration, clinical documentation, abstracting etc. to try to achieve “clean” data up front. This is done through validation and rules and well as enforcing standard processes.
We have two database analysts in IT who are responsible for the technical infrastructure, database design, performance management, reporting and our ETL.
I can be contacted directly if more information is needed.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Data
Collection/Decision Support
Our facility is currently in the process of evaluating various data collection tools and processes. To date we have viewed demos from both Datawatch and IPeople. Are any facilities using these tools to assist in the data collection/decision support process? And if so, can you provide some feedback. Also are there any other products that are currently on the market that you may have found useful within this process. What are some things that your facilities are doing to streamline the data collection process within your facility. How is your data collection process carried out within your organizations? We are also evaluating the role of decision support. Do any facilities have a designated role for data collection/decision support? And if so, what is the actual job description of this position and is it an IT or Business area position? Thanks in advance for your help!
