Hello,

This is Derek Prim from Phelps Country Regional Medical Center. We are currently a MAGIC facility running 5.64 PP19. My cohort and I are attempting to download a report through NPR. All goes rather well until the time to import the file into excel. The problem we run into is when we look at the Birth Date. When viewing the report in NPR, it is seen in a YYYYMMDD format which is fine. However, when it is downloaded, the format changes to MM/DD/YY. While this normally wouldn’t be a problem, we have gotten to the point where we are dealing with elderly meaning that a birthdate of 1/1/11 could mean either 01/01/1911 OR 01/01/2011. Has anyone encountered this problem and is it possible to make Meditech spit out the format exactly as it is viewed before download?

As a side note, I opened the download file in notepad to see if the conversion was happening in excel when opening the file and I can confirm that it downloads as MM/DD/YY. We have also attempted making the field in NPR a BDATE10 and a DATE10.

Thanks,

Derek Prim, M.S. IST

You might want to try to pass the date in question thru this function

%Z.date.text(@birthdate,”N/D/Y”)

Hope this helps,

Have you tried a computed field?

DAT=PINT

JFY=R

LEN=10

VAL=%Z.date.text(@date.of.birth,"N/D/Y")

Make sure you make the field LEN=10 to capture the entire year in question

This field will output the date in YYYYMMDD format:

xx.date

DAT=FREE

JFY=L

LEN=8

VAL=(@date$4)_(@date$6%3)_(@date%5)
