Currently we print every report and someone eyeballs it to see if any physicians have been copied.  If not, she discards the report; if so she manually distributes the copy.  We have some providers set up to receive them automatically but  she is still looking at each copy to be sure no provider gets missed.  There has to be a better way.  I asked Meditech and they steered me to the audit trail to avoid printing but this still requires someone looking at every report.  I thought of an NPR report.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Would appreciate any input.

Thank you

Sue

Hi, Sue.

We also use Forward Advantage’s SmartRoute functionality to handle report distribution out of Meditech.

At Southwestern Vermont we used Interbit Net Delivery to automatically route some 30k reports per month.  For Departmental we setup routing templates to deliver to the appropriate physician and we synced with the Doctor Dictionary on a hourly basis.  We had documented fax back verification forms and the like.  About half of our volume we delivered electronically vs faxing so we had 100% reliable delivery for the sites that would install a small client and download their results automatically.  The remote sites would either auto print the documents for their workflow or drop them electronically into the physicians unsigned queue so they could review it.

Thank you.  Seems that is the way to go.  Unfortunately we do not have Forward Advantage.  Appreciate the responses though.

We have Forward Advantage also, however, we are integrated with most all our immediate areas providers and EMRs.  We also have numerous transcription systems that also have their own capabilities to fax included, usually better fax images and such than our current FwdAdv so we go through the routine of testing all the faxed/paper processes to the integration faxes and then go from there on provider preference.  That can be quite confusing.  Our own physicians just now decided together to stop all faxed documents from the hospital to their offices.

Thanks
