Hello to all -

We are following up on some changes that we need to make in our facility
about the MPI report to be used in a downtime.

We have an NPR report that has the elements we want, but wonder how to
AUTOMATE the process to another form of MEDIA such as a CD or a jump
drive.

Unfortunately, we have 10+ years of data so the report is *HUGE*, and
the problem is compounded by our decentralized registration, so several
areas need to get access to the info. We have decided to run the report
1 time per month (after month end close). Ideally, we want to schedule
the report, use the spooler to send to DOWNLOAD, and then drop to CD or
whatever. But, is this the best process?? Anyone doing something easier
or better?

We are a 5.5 sr3 MAGIC site. And need any information or experiences on
this process that you feel inclined to share!!! J

Thank you in advance!

I do that with our monthly MPI. What you need to do is create a spool file that can FTP. Then you can schedule it. Once it's created you can write a simple .bat file to rename or move it to whatever directory you want. Of course, you need to be running an ftp server on your domain. If you need some screenshots on how to set it up let me know.

We FTP ours to a server on the network twice daily (7a and 7p). It is
set up in HTML format so it can be viewed and searched in a web browser
in case of downtime. Ours is a little over 14 MBs currently. It takes
the NPR about 15 minutes to run and FTP the file.

Don't forget about privacy with all that critical data being on an unencrypted (and mobile) device.
We are looking at doing the same thing but after a couple of other projects are completed first.
First the 'encryption' project will encrypt all of our systems C drives out there (we don't store any corporate or personal data on our local drives currently as theft is possible) and then we're going to use interbits netprint to deliver the printouts from Meditech to the required machines that need them.
