We are using Motorola DS4208(tethered to workstation) and DS6878(wireless) to scan material items for patient charging.

We are using Motorola DS6878 for our BMV/eMAR. We have been live for over a year with BMV and please with these scanners. Key point for these scanners is the set ups for various types of bar code scans.
We have had to ship only one back since go live due to bad battery. We have batteries ordered and can replace them without having to send back to vendor (replacing batteries does not void the warranty).

We are using Code scanners wirelessly with a thin client device in each patient room. Our nurses like them much better than the tethered scanners. We have had them in production for several months now.

We are using the Code scanners and love them. We have both tethered and wireless. Plus our rep: Dave Judy was great to work with. We are also using C5 tablets with scanners – don’t like them as much. We are currently retrofitting them with code scanners.
Thanks!
Rhonda
Code 2500 wireless, love ‘em. Dave Judy is ours, also, all cool.

Could you provide the model number of the wireless code scanner you are using? Do you have any issues using the wireless with BMV scanning? We have the tethered code scanners, but would like to switch to wireless.

We are using the Code 2500 wireless. Only problem is nurses not keeping them charged – otherwise they work very well.
Thank you,

HA!
Let me know if you figure that one out. Our nurses appear to think the devices (and workstations on wheels) charge wirelessly…
Our desktop team rounds daily and plugs devices back in.

Hey Gary
We tried a lot of avenues. We had a program that would page the nurses when the WOW’s went down or were low on battery so they could be plugged in. The pagers had the batteries taken out and / or were put in drawers. We put plugs at waist height…
We are now piloting a program that monitors the battery state and who used the WOW last to see if we can spot our perpetrators….
But at the end of the day, nurses are very busy, and we are all in to help our patients, so the best we’ve come up with is rounding. It keeps our desktop team out and in front of our internal customers and it does not seem like a bad thing.

Interesting concept. I think I need to have my IT guys go around and re-plug in the COWs, too, while they’re at it. J
