What are other sites doing for coding reflex testing, since the medical
necessity doesn't come up when a test is reflexed?
Thanks.

Our Business Office uses a claim scrubber and returns a form to the
ordering physician's office for additional diagnoses. Account is placed
on hold. The physician's office is instructed to return the form to
Medical Records where the account is re-abstracted. MR then sends the
form back to the Business Office to complete the cycle. Initially we
received some kick back. However, when we pointed out how much work
reflex testing saved and the benefits to the patient by not missing
things, the offices were a bit happier about this process. If anyone has
ideas to streamline this process, please post.
