Our site are currently 5.67 PP20 and we are looking for information from anyone who has developed a process for identifying unsigned admission orders and how you ensure that the orders are signed prior to discharge. We are aware of the information that Meditech provides in their enhancement documentation as well as the KB article on creating a flag to providers. We are struggling implementing consistant process without causing delays and issues at the time of discharge. Any input would be most appreciated!! Thanks!

Hello,
We made the rule at discharge a hard stop attached to the discharge rule, so that the patient cannot be sent home unless their admission order has been signed. This only applies for Medicaid and Medicare patients, so it isn’t a hard stop for everyone. It’s really worked well!
Thanks,
Katie
