If I am understanding the question correctly, the best place to build this is on page 3 of the Appointment Types dictionary. On that page you can exclude days of the week and also enter an early and late start time based on day. If you are doing a lot of different appointment types, filling the info in can be cumbersome, but it is well worth the effort. Hope this helps.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Scheduling Rule

Good Day to all Meditech Guru's,

I am trying to create a rule for scheduling that says that if you answer yes to a question then the system will not let you book before 9a or after 5p M-f.

I have not been able to get this to work properly.

Any assistance you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Chris,

If the restriction is related to a particular appointment type (don't know what your query pertains to ) rather than using a rule, you might look into creating a Start Time restriction in the Appointment Type Dictionary. If it's more resource-related, you could create a SCH Profile within the Resource to exclude certain appointment types for those time periods.

Chris, the approach I'd probably take (because of the conditional
requirement of your time restriction) would be to create a CDS for those
appointment types. On this CDS, ask your conditional question, and if
the answer will create the restriction, pop up a warning message that
warns the scheduler not to choose those appointment times. This warning
message, because of the sequence of events, will happen immediately
before the scheduler is picking the times, so it should be fresh in
their mind. Not a guarantee that they'll pay attention to it, but it
should work!

Hi Chris,
CWS has the ability to specify exact start and stop times in the appt
dict AND it has the ability to give a warning or rejection based on the
answer to any query. However if I understand what you want is to combine
the two; If the answer to the query is such and such limit the appt
times to blah, blah... I've been hoping for that sort of capability from
CWS for some time. Unless things have improved in the world of CWS
rules things don't work the best. The last time I played with a rule the
best I could do was generate some kind of warning, popup message when
trying to file the appt. I don't believe you can control how or when an
appt is scheduled from a rule. We are Magic 5.4.

Good luck.
