Happy Friday everyone!!

Quick question:

In the OR module our nurses want to be able to ‘jump’ directly to the RXM (Medication Reconciliation) screen from their Big Board/Profile routine in OR.  We are told the OR module does not ‘behave’ the same as ED and NUR therefore cannot jump directly to RXM. So what we have is a pop-up that forces the nurse to re-enter the patient name/select correct account number/patient location/patient provider before we get to the RXM screen

I cannot believe this is the ONLY way we can get directly to the main RXM Med Rec screen from OR.  Does anyone have a jump attribute or know of a KB article that would help us out? We are MAGIC 5.66pp8

Thanks in advance

Sandy

We just went live with RXM and discovered the same thing while building. Our nurses jump from a surgical assessment, documented from within the profile.  Either a full pre-op assessment or one labeled "OR-Medication Management" depending on the situation. They answer an attributed Y/N query to jump: "Do you want to document Home Medications?"

It would be better to give them a custom button on the desktop but, oh well, not this year.

Hi all,

In the ORM we have both Status Board and eMAR buttons set up, and have them trained to go to the Status Board and have them do Allergies, Med Rec, Discharge, Review, etc. They have to go there frequently anyway to see new orders and results, it remains home base even though their documentation is in ORM. maybe in the near future a Med Rec button will happen-oh, yeah, I was dreaming there for a minute.

We are Magic 5.64, we have a SCH Ap-pointment Function set up for Medication Reconciliation, point it to “RXM.ORD.process.med.rec” the staff do have to enter the patient but it does take them right to the Med Rec function.

Thanks,

Phil Steines, Clinical Analyst

Phil, we have the same set-up in TEST, but we point to

RXM.ORD.process.med.rec("EA#"_/..LAST.MPI^/d.patient)

That takes the user to RXM, holding the patient context though they do have to enter the patient location; a brief mnemonic, quicker than entering the patient.

From here the nurses would be able to enter new home meds and they would file OK. But if they change anything on existing reported meds, including "Reviewing", they're not able to file, they just get an error message. Since we require the nurses to review the home meds in Pre-op, and they can't file their review from here, we don't use it.

Are your nurses able to file a "review" of home meds going from the Surgical Profile, or is your process different?

thanks
Linda

Subject: RE: [MT-L] RXM and OR

In Magic, while you CAN create a custom Med Rec button for the BB desktop, RXM won't function fully. We found that users could enter meds, but were not able to file a Review; not sure what else they can't do, but that alone was a deal breaker for us. Meditech told us that it's because ORM doesn't pass the necessary variables to RXM. There is a proposal out there to fix this, I believe.

If you are not Magic, YMMV.
