Hello,
I am searching for a Magic facility using Iatric Medication Reconciliation (PDI) and electronically (without manual intervention) scanning the reconciliation reports into PCI. Our scanning vendor is Valco.

Has anyone in Meditech land tried to implement the rule that concerns
the use of "UD" as a rate for IV entry? I followed the instructions

attempting to enter an IV with the UD rate. Thanks for your help in

Subject: [MT-L] MAGIC 5.62: DRUG DICTIONARY SETUP

We recently ran into a problem when uploading our monthly formulary
update from Micromedex which multiplied the awp by the strength to the
tune of very large charges. Anyway - this resulted in Finance
requesting that we review the dictionary. Luckily the problem is mainly
with the inhalers, injectables and bulk items.

The person who set up the dictionary is no longer here - but it seems
that each drug is setup differently and he price protected the awp so
that there wouldn't be a problem with pricing (or so it seems). He also
changed the strength on some of the inhalers to be the number of puffs -
which shouldn't be, yet it seems to be the only way to get the system to
calculate properly.

The latest drugs were Invega 117, 156 and 234 mg injectables. The
strength, order size and dispense size came across all the same when the
drugs were initialized, but then when I uploaded my update the awp
calculated against the strengths.

I haven't heard back from Meditech yet - so I figured I would post
this....what are we doing wrong???

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

We have a report that I was told that Meditech created for us called
"Your Patients in a bed Sorted by Locaiton".

I wonder if anyone knows a way that I could see the fields that are on
this report that I could call with the technique illustrated below. I
was successful in trying to access a few fields from PCI but I'm not
sure what the fields I need are called but I suspect it is in the "NEW
CLINICAL RESULTS" section of the "pci.patient.data" macro. I will
probably want items in the "NEW ABNORMAL RESULTS" seciton too.

One field I need appears as a "*" next to the patient's name on the
report. The field is explained on the report as "* = Recent Results,
since last viewed". I am also looking for the field that displays as "D
= direct care, d = courtesy, O = ordering/otherprovider", this
explanation also appeared on the report.

This is the technique I am using to get data out of PCI. I learned this
from a MUSE seminar hosted by Brian Schmit from IPeople. The technique
works but I don't know what the fields are. I have a list of the fields
from the pci.patient.data macro in $T but I am not sure how to get what
I need. This macro pulls data from PCI into NPR

Macro "get.pci.data"

@NUR.PAT.mri.urn^MPI,
@TEST.2,

TEST.3

I tried using

""^/NEW.CLIN.RSLTS,
:P[MPI]N^/NEW.CLIN.RSLTS,

but I am getting screen corruption on my report.

Hi,

I am in the process of building the dictionaries for the Staffing &
Scheduling module in Magic 5.63. As the Display Code for the Scheduling
Code Dictionary has only one character, I am struggling with how to
define these. I have searched the "L" and see where others have asked
this question, but have not seen a reply. I also searched Meditech KB
unsuccessfully. Would anyone be willing to share theirs with me? Days,
evenings, and nights were easy - but we have 7 different 12 hour shifts
that I need to define.

I am hoping that someone has run into this. On individual PC's users can
not view the surgery operative report from the EMR. They can view all
other EMR reports including all Other Reports just not the Surgery
Operative report. We've installed all the word viewers, done PC clean

go to another PC and see this report. Any ideas or suggestions would be

I went to their presentation at MUSE in Dallas and it appears that their use
of Google Health does, in fact, do that. It was quite impressive what
they've been able to do with Google Health. In addition to satisfying
meaningful use, it got a lot of positive press.

I found out yesterday that I need a report completed by the end of today
that lists all employees yearly hours, dollars, etc. Meditech cannot
give me any idea where to start at. I get several lines for each
employee and I only need a total. Does anyone have a report they use
for year earnings that I can "tweak"?

We are getting 5.6 code in test on 9/2. There are several on line
seminars we are planning to attend. In the past I have not found so many
of these very useful. However, without going to Meditech for classroom
training we opted for the webinars. Has anyone been disappointed with
the 5.6 webinars and found they were a waste of money. $140.00 a pop can
get expensive.

Hi, Bob, it was good to meet you in Dallas.

We had a similar situation. We needed some of the fields for the ER
departure that needed to be required, but not interfere with a quick
registration of an emergency patient. Our solution was to be certain
that the departure called a different "screen" than the admission. They
both use the same queries, but all the "requirements" are defined at the
screen level.

Is there a way to make the query required only if a non sch questionaire

Hello All,

We are currently in the process of bringing our Respiratory Therapists
up on documenting in eMAR. We have attached their Respiratory Tx sheet
to all of the drugs appropriately, unfortunately there are drugs that
are administered by RT and Nursing. I would like to be able "skip" the
Respiratory CDS when a nurse is documenting on those drugs (i.e. Multi
Dose Inhalers).

Has anyone thought about this, tried it or has been successful with it?
I don't believe a Pharmacy rule will work because the pharmacy rules
evaluate after the cds pops up...Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly
appreciated!

Thanks, Tristan

Several months ago someone posted a question about what security
standards we should be meeting. At that time I was working with a group
from the HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin (HIPAA-COW) on a whitepaper
based on a survey that we did on what Wisconsin hospitals were doing in
regard to the security of PHI. We finally finished the write up. It is
now posted at www.hipaacow.org. Please take time to review it and any

Our site did the webinars. Some departments thought they were terrific. Our department, Lab, was very disappointed. The problem was on both sides. We were not aggressive enough in our questioning and the MT resource who was delivering the info seemed to really want to be done with it. I learned from this one that next time, we will demand to see the application in action. All our consultant did was show us the individual screens which we didn't need her to waste time doing. The flow of the analyzer process screens should have been thoroughly demonstrated as it is fundamentally different from the earlier versions.

Has anyone encountered this issue:

ED patient is quick received using EDM, and radiology orders are placed. Since the quick receive process pre-admits the patient, no MRN is assigned, so Meditech substitutes the account number as the MRN and sends this in the order messages to interfaced systems (PACS, TRANSCRIPTION, TELERADIOLOGY).

Once the patient is registered by admissions, admit messages are sent to interfaced systems, creating a second patient with a correct MRN.

When the interfaced system sends back any kind of message (status, report, etc), related to the order message that contained the account number substituted for the MRN, the message errors on Meditech because the failing message contains the incorrect MRN.

If you have encountered this, how did you work around it?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi All,

Sometimes, users get locked on a screen in RXM. One doctor could not
renew a prescription. She was finally able to do it after she logged out
and then waited a while to go back in. I keep on finding out after the
fact, so I can't spy on the job or check OPS. Has anyone else
experienced this? We are Magic 5.61

Hi,

If we have accounts that have a temp MRN such as our trauma's; when they
get the right M number it is merged in ADM and the message gets sent to
PACS and PACS merges them together on our end so the right, new number
is what goes back in the status update - no failure.

We have Fuji PACS.

Telerad - we manually receive results for them so we don't have any
automated send back so not an issue right now.

Has anyone encountered this issue:

ED patient is quick received using EDM, and radiology orders are placed.
Since the quick receive process pre-admits the patient, no MRN is
assigned, so Meditech substitutes the account number as the MRN and
sends this in the order messages to interfaced systems (PACS,
TRANSCRIPTION, TELERADIOLOGY).

Once the patient is registered by admissions, admit messages are sent to
interfaced systems, creating a second patient with a correct MRN.

When the interfaced system sends back any kind of message (status,

Hello L'ers and TGIF!!!

We are a magic 5.61 shop (soon to be 5.64) and we are attempting to
implement the PCM Problem component in PDoc (can you say meaningful
use)! I am attempting to write an NPR report to pull problems for
specific patients for coding/billing purposes. Has anybody already
created a PCM problem report and is willing to share with me? I checked
the Meditech NPR report archive and PCM is not even listed among their
applications. Any help will be greatly appreciated and I promise to
share what I get with the list. Thanks and have a fantastic weekend!!

We are still having weekly meetings with Meditech Scanning and Archiving
to review (rarely are there any updates) on all our outstanding issues.
I have a few questions for the L:

1. How many sites have weekly meetings?
2. Do you have orphaned images (images with no pointers to an
account)?
3. Lose records when merging records?
4. Unable to use Closed Chart Worklist?
5. Charts in continuously compiling - unable to view images in ELR
6. Images scanned for pre accounts unavailable in PCI?
7. Backside of pages missing or backside of page 1 is actually
front of page 2? (Meditech tried to say this was user error for over 6
months)
8. Blank images (gray images) in AFI?
9. Have any sites axed the product after all the difficulties?
10. Have issues with the hardware specifications; we have had to
double our terabytes in a single year?

This product has many patient safety related issues and I would use
extreme caution when considering a move to an Electronic Legal Record.

Thank you,

Heather Bloxsom

With all these problems, we're glad we didn't go with Meditech's SCA.
We went live with Iatric's/ISSolutions product in Jan 2010 and we don't
have any retrieval problems with historical or current images. Good
Luck.

Heather,
How long have you been on the product? Do you have the Physician Query process set up?

1. We do not have weekly meetings, but sometimes wish we did-especially if you have had Meditech working on issues.
5. Have had this issue with a few charts.

We have had multiple issues with looking at the echart through PCI vs. MRI.

We're Magic 5.63, and we understand your frustration.
