For the meaningful use stroke ED 2 metric, what are you using for the Decision to Admit time?
Thank you,

Hello Natasha,
We have a number of clients who use the following method for capturing Decision to Admit:
Establish a separate order to capture the Decision to Admit, which often happens before the actual admission orders are written. Clinicians do get busy and there can be a lag in time before admission orders are written. For CMS audit compliance, relying on just the Decision to Admit time may result in a workflow justification as it may not accurately reflect the clinical decision time.
We realize this is an extra step a provider or designee has to take, but it does allow for a more accurate description of when the Decision to Admit actually occurred.
