Job Description: Snowflake Expert and Data Architect

We are looking for a skilled Snowflake expert and data architect to assist in the performance monitoring, tuning, and operationalization of its Snowflake-based Enterprise Data Management platform.

This is currently a contract position.

 

We are looking for a person with the following expertise:

· Deep knowledge of implementing and performance tuning Dynamic Tables, Streams, and Tasks.

· Knowledge of performance monitoring in Snowflake, ability to identify queries in need of performance improvement and the mechanism to optimize performance and cost of compute in Snowflake.

o Includes query optimization techniques

o Resource monitoring

o Warehouse sizing

· Ability to develop and communicate key guidelines to the individuals’ creating processes in Snowflake. Must be able to monitor to ensure guidelines are being followed.

· Strong data engineering experience to help optimize data load and unload processes for performance and cost.

· Ability to review data architecture and provide performance and cost optimization direction to help maximize our Snowflake spend.

· Ability to mentor junior data engineers in Snowflake and data architecture principles and practices.

· Proven capability to automate performance and cost optimization checks and workflows.

· Data modeling capabilities.

· Data Transformation, ETL/ELT

· Proven capability to optimize a process for business effectiveness.

· Experience with Data Quality and Data Governance in Snowflake.

· Ability to capture and understand business requirements. Ability to facilitate interactions in order to gain a thorough understanding of core business operations.

· Some knowledge of healthcare payer data is preferred. Knowledge of healthcare data is minimum.

 

Skills:

· Strong Snowflake architectural experience

· Snowflake SQL, MSSQL T-SQL, Python, SSIS, PowerShell

· Strong Snowflake development experience

o Basic objects, Materialized Views, Dynamic Tables, Streams, UDFs, Stored Procedures

· Strong understanding of Snowflake metadata

· Compute and Load/Unload optimization (both performance and cost).

· Data Modeling

· ETL/ELT, Data Transformation

· Modern Data Transformation tools: FiveTran, Matillion, CData, DBT, etc.

· Strong communication skills. Ability to simplify and explain complex topics to both developers and business folks.

· DevOps/DataOps and CI/CD for Snowflake

· Containers in Snowflake

· PowerBI, Snowflake Dashboards, Streamlit
