Saturday, March 7, Maynard Energy and Sustainability Fair, 12 – 4 pm
at the Fowler Middle School at 3 Tiger Drive off route 117 in
Maynard.
The Maynard Girl Scouts will be supervising a play area and organized
kids activities so that parents can attend some of the sessions child-
free. Healthy lunch foods will be available for sale. For a full fair

"Deep energy retrofits" are projects that strive to make 50% to 80%
reductions in the energy load of a house, or even approach net-zero
energy in some cases.

renewable energy and sustainable living.

Come hear what’s happening in the legislature regarding environmental
issues from our newest representatives.

Climate Change in the Northeast - Keith Bergman, The Climate Project
You’ve seen predictions for India, Africa and the American Southwest,
but what can we expect here? The Union of Concerned Scientists brought
together 50 scientists from leading research institutes to determine
what we can expect to experience right here in the Northeast under two
different emissions scenarios – “business as usual” and “steep
emissions reductions.” Keith Bergman will delve into the implications
of our actions today on the weather tomorrow.
Low Carbon Diet - Jen Boudrie, Green Marlborough
MCAN's (Massachusetts Climate Action Network) Low Carbon Living
(LoCaL) Program is a friendly way to reduce the co st of home energy
and the impacts of global warming. Groups of five to eight households
in a community use teamwork and behavior change to “lose 5,000 pounds
of carbon in 30 days.” Members of a team with eight households will
lose at least 40,000 pounds of carbon in a month and slash each home’s
energy bills,20while developing stronger community bonds. Learn about
the program and how you might join others in your neighborhood to
decrease household emissions together. Copies of the companion book,
Low Carbon Diet: a 30 Day Program to Lose 5000 Pounds by David Gershon
will be available for sale at the MaynardCAN! booth at the fair
