New paper: Terrestrial or marine species distribution model: Why not both? A case study with seabirds

Hi all, this is an interesting paper that just came out on using both terrestrial and marine species Information e.g. for seabirds in SDM.

I wonder how Maxent would deal with this. I can’t see why it would be a problem but wonder if there have been other studies doing this and the view of this group.

I didn't inspect this paper carefully, but I don't understand how terrestrial variables describing preferable roosting sites would be able to inform foraging areas of the ocean. They seem like different parts of the bird's niche space that may not have much to do with each other outside thermal tolerances and other physiological limits.

A few years ago I published two papers combining different aspects of a niche (terrestrial and oceanic) for a group of sea snakes, including describing a simple framework on combining different aspects of the niche of a species in a single model. The papers can be consulted here:
