Non-mathematicians think that you can count things that count in math.


This is the best translation I could make, so far (paraphrasing Einstein) of a proverb from the Russian math circles where I grew up:
Нематематики считают, что математики считают.

My previous version: "By non-mathematicians' accounts, mathematicians count."

If you can make the saying better, please do! This is the message parents need to hear, early in the baby's life :-)
