I just asked my 8-yea-old son if he wants to watch that movie with me. I'm taking a break from grading Calc II tests, and watching it now.

Sorry I wasn't able to participate more. It was fun to read the conversations, though!

Warmly,
Sue

The course about math-rich babies is coming to an end. It was an interesting experience for me, and I would like to thank everybody who participated. You can continue using the Google Group and ask.naturalmath.com to ask questions and exchange ideas. I will run a similar course in April, making changes based on observations during these six weeks. Advise is very welcome!

We will meet on Monday, March 7th, at 7pm Eastern Time, to plan what we will be doing next and to do one last class task! To join the meeting, follow this link: http://tinyurl.com/MathRichMeeting

Or you can respond to the task - which is a question - right here:

What is one thing you can do today to bring a bit more rich math into your family life?

Here is a contribution to the cause: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACtjN4CSN50

I missed it! Just got the kiddo down for bed and was hoping to sneak in for a few minutes.

Maria, thank you so much for this class! I've really enjoyed it. I wish I were less an observer and more a participant, but it gave me a lot to work with!

Questiong: what is one thing you can do today to bring a bit more rich math into your family life?

I'm so sad that the course is coming to an end! We are in the middle of an unexpected trans-Atlantic move, and so I haven't been able to participate - in fact, things have been so busy I haven't had time to implement half of the ideas. (and has made participating in the meetings impossible).

But it is such a gift to have these ideas to draw upon. In answer to your question, Maria, the ideas make me so much more AWARE of things I'm doing in every day life, and how they are math-related. From folding laundry and counting, to stacking objects of different shapes, to naming shapes (in addition to color) of objects, to cutting food into fractions, to creating symbols and recognizing symbols for things, to drawing fractals, etc.

Things that are everyday and fun. - Just being aware and creative.  That is how I can bring more rich math into our family.

Thanks so much for organizing and keeping this going, Maria!
