I went to the Sedge Meadow location in Wayland today from 1:00 to 3:00 to scout for the upcoming field trip (June 28). It was sunny and mid 70s, not much wind, but the clouds started to come in by 2:00.
I saw:
7 Cabbage White
10 Sulphur (sp; at least 3 Orange Sulphur)
5 Peck's Skipper
3 Tawny-edged Skipper
1 Common Ringlet
1 Eastern-tailed Blue
3 Pearl Crescent
1 (large, mostly black, possible swallowtail fly-by)
Overall, there should be more flying by the end of the month: lots of milkweed (not flowering yet), in addition to vetch, clover, and others.
I plan to return once or twice before the field trip. Shannon is doing a great job of promoting this trip in the Wayland area, so let me know if you're planning to join us so we can fine-tune logistics (like parking).
