Today in the mid-day hours (warm and sunny) we walked a 1.2 mile section of the Mass Central Rail Trail in Ware. The landscape was festooned with huge stands of Joe-Pye-Weed, and several small pollinator gardens have been installed. There was a great variety of nectar sources, and the weather seemed perfect for butterflies. Nevertheless, we saw very few.
1 Black Swallowtail
1 Cabbage White
1 Great Spangled Fritillary
1 Monarch
All seen at pollinator garden alongside parking area.
