Many of y'all have known Roger Pease and his doings and contributions to our local natural history, especially butterflies.
While at the Springfield Public Schools Garden Summit on Saturday 1 March 2025, we met Roger's daughter (forgive me if I don't correctly remember her name, but I think it is Lisa Pasay). She told us that Roger had passed away in early January 2025.
She had many fond memories of joining him on butterfly walks, especially the 4th of July Butterfly Counts.
I sadly did not know him well, but figured that since he was such a
giant presence in our area, others would want to know of his passing.
