Hardwick & Barre butterflies

For the past week or so we've had 4 - 6 Great Spangled Fritillary and an occasional Monarch - besides the few individuals that were raised here and departed right after eclosing - in our yard. Favorite nectar sources: white Buddleia, Seven-son flower (Heptacodium miconioides) . .  .I know, non-natives , and New England Aster.

On September 15 at Moose Brook WMA we observed the following:

4 Cabbage White

13 Clouded Sulphur

5  American Copper

1 Gray Hairstreak

3 Eastern tailed-Blue

1 Great Spangled Fritillary

11 Pearl Crescent

1 Viceroy

3 Common Ringlet

4 Monarch

2 Peck's Skipper
