Amherst Field Trip this Sunday 8/2, 10:30am

I highly recommend the South Amherst Meadows field trip tomorrow, 10:30am, with Harvey Allen. Last year we saw amazing numbers of Sulphurs, Silver-bordered Fritillaries and Ringlets . . . plus a Buckeye and other delightful finds. Unfortunately, I cannot attend this year, but I'm hoping others might be free to accompany the longtime naturalist Harvey Allen on this trip. Here are the details with last year's trip list below. I recommend calling Harvey rather than emailing to rsvp . . . although you can also just show up!

South Amherst Meadows 

Explore Grasslands near Andrews Greenhouse, Atkins Flat and Brookside Trail. Abundant Joe-pye weed with recorded sightings of Silver-bordered Fritillary and several other species. These are wetlands so proper shoes helpful. Meet at Andrew’s Greenhouse Parking Lot (1184 S East St) at 10:30am. Later we will drive a couple of minutes over to Atkins Flat and after surveying that area, we will walk about 500 feet across a field to Brookside Trail.
