Cranberry Bog, Carlisle
I will be leading this walk on Sunday for the Massachusetts Butterfly Club and the Carlisle Conservation Foundation. This is a new trip for the MBC schedule. The Cranberry Bog in Carlisle has not been commercially active since 2016, but it is a good place to look for insects while walking the flat, graveled trails. Possible species include Silver-bordered and Variegated Fritillaries, Broad-winged Skipper, Appalachian Brown and Viceroy. We’ll also check out some of the 70+ species of dragonfly and damselfly recorded at this site. Meet at the parking area next to the Bog House, 750 Curve Street. No need to rsvp.
