In our Hardwick yard today 8/24 were two Great Spangled Fritillary (fresh) and a Monarch (may or may not be one that I reared and released). A fifth Monarch that I reared eclosed and was released today, the first male.

Giant Swallowtail was back again, though it's possible it's a different
individual than last time, as this one looked possibly even fresher. It
flew around the whole yard wildly in the late morning. When Peter came
home, after 2, just as I was telling him about it, it came around again,
flying around the whole yard a few times but not stopping for photos.

1 Giant Swallowtail
1 Spicebush Swallowtail right next door, on the thistle that re-seeded from
our garden
2 American Ladies
3 Monarchs
2 Zabulon Skippers
2 Cabbage Whites

When I got home today, I was very surprised to find a Great Spangled
Fritillary in our yard. Although I have never seen one, Lauren says there
were some many years ago one summer. A very rare occurrence down our way!

1 Great Spangled Fritillary
1 Orange Sulphur
4 American Ladys
3 Monarchs
2 Northern Broken Dash
15+ American Coppers
3 Zabulon Skippers (2 male, 1 female)
4 Cabbage Whites
1 Pipevine Swallowtail (same one for a few weeks now)
