In West Bridgewater, you are likely finding Operophtera brumata, not Operophtera bruceata (Bruce's Spanworm), although either are possible. Bruce's ranges across the continent from western Canada to Maine, with a Californian population as well. Brumata is an invasive restricted mostly to eastern New England. The Connecticut River Valley is something of a dividing line in Massachusetts. Brumata is spreading westward, however. And, they hybridize.

... YES; Winter Moth ...

here at 'Adams Farm', West Bridgewater

Winter Moth 2 ( At our kitchen window last PM.) Possibly the native Bruce Spanworm species but not certain. We just got word from Westport Island, Maine where our summer house is located that the Island is getting inundated (again same as 2024).
