Went out on Saturday (7/11) to walk the Bentley loop at Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth. Clear skies. Temperatures were little warm (80's) in the sun, overall, very nice day.
Final "phenology" walk. Goat's-rue (Tephrosia virginiana) passed bloom. Common milkweed, mountain mint, eastern teaberry, and yellow wild indigo were all in bloom.
First field was relatively sparse. A few monarchs, but not much else. Invasive plants are taking over the field and displacing a lot of the native vegetation. Most sightings were from the second field with the mountain mint. Hung around that field about 30 min before leaving. Might have seen a bit more if we had stayed for longer.
