Took a walk with about 21 people on Sunday, July 13 through the Crowell Preserve in Duxbury.
This is a reclaimed cranberry bog system. Lots of wetlands vegetation, including button bush, pepperbush, Spiraea tomentosa, and Spiraea alba. There was a pretty large field of milkweed that was all going to seed. I imagine it must have been pretty good about 1-2 weeks ago.
Lots of insects to see, but butterfly sightings were sparse. We managed to find an Appalachian brown, which might be of note. I hadn't seen one nearby before.
