I arrived at around 11:00 AM and was raining with thunder. By noon,
just a half hour later - the sun popped out and was hazy, warm and
humid. A lot of Lep activity and the highlight was certainly the
surprising amount of Elfins and Duskywings in both numbers present and
diversity of species. Below is the tally.

Eastern Pine Elfin (Incisalia niphon) - everywhere, 30 or 40+
Brown Elfin (Callophrys augustinus) - also very abundant, 30 or so.
Frosted Elfin (Callophrys irus) - 4 very fresh
Hoary Elfin (Callophrys polios) - 12 + in and around the low growing
Bearberry
Juvenal's Duskywing (Erynnis juvenalis) - 20 to 25
Wild Indigo Duskywing (Erynnis baptisiae) - 12 +
Sleepy Duskywing (Erynnis brizo) - 20+
Horace's Duskywing (Erynnis horatius) - 3
American Painted Lady (V. virginiana) - 5 or 6
Red Admiral (V. atalanta) - 4
Cosmopolitan Lady (V. cardui) - 3 or 4
Tiger Swallowtail ( P. glaucus or P. appalachiensis) - 1
American Copper (Lycaena phlaeas) - 2
Gray Hairstreak - (Strymon melinus) - 1
Eastern Tailed Blue (Everes comyntas) - 2 or 3
Azure sp. (Celastrina) - dozens
Clouded Sulphur (C. philodice) - 2

Enjoy the rain for the next week or so.....
