Today I received the results from the 33-marker paternal lineage test
we requested from ancestry.com for my father, Philip Rogers Mann. His
markers, all 33, are a perfect match with Amy Mann Micthell's father,
Jonathan Herman Mann. Jonathan's great-grandfather was Madison Mann
(son of Daniel); my father's was John Mann (son of Martin). Our own
research had indicated that Madison and John were first cousins.
These DNA results corroborate the close kinship we concluded.
Specifically, the results from ancestry.com are summarized by them as
follows for my father and Amy's father:
Haplogroup: R1b ("The Artisans")
Ancestor Match: Within 3 generations, approx 75 years ago

Others of you out there with male Manns in your immediate family may
want to participate in this DNA investigation, particularly those of
you in collateral line to Martin and Daniel Mann (Silas and Stephen)
or in the other Mann lines out of Northampton County, NC. Couldn't
hurt to have a couple more from Daniel's line as well, perhaps someone
in Henry M.'s line in the Indiana area or Robert N.'s line from the
Charlotte area or James Anderson's line from Florida. Let me know if
you want to take a DNA test...it's relatively inexpensive and it's an
easy test...no pain, no blood. I hope you will.

Received new DNA information a couple of days ago from Rod Mann,
descendant of Richard Mann through his son Daniel Mann and his
grandson Robert N. Mann

Of the 25 markers in his DNA test, 22 of the markers were also used in
the 33-marker test at Ancestry.com where my father's test was
submitted and where Amy Mann Mitchell's father's was submitted. Amy's
father and my father's are a perfect match across all 33 markers. We
know her ancestor was Madison and that Madison was a brother of Robert
N. Mann. Rod's 22 markers all match my father's and Amy's father as
would be expected, however it's great to have the confirmation. I
reproduced the results below using the 25 markers from Rod's test.
The first line is my father's and Amy's father. The next line is
Rod's.
