There is a town of Haw River.  It is right beside Graham, NC in Alamance County.  Mary Wesly Holt Gunter's mother and father lived in Haw River, but were buried in Graham in Providence United Church of Christ cemetery.  Mary's father, Young Anderson Holt, was born January 27, 1844.  Her mother, Bethany "Thenia" Poe was born October 6, 1844.  Thenia & Young Anderson were married February 22, 1867.  Thenia died November 20, 1891.  I don't know when Young Anderson died, but it was after 1901.  He has a legible stone in the cemetery I was told, but it is a very large cemetery with many old stones.  I've only been through it once, and that was hurriedly, not that long ago.  I could not find his stone.  We need to find an expert on that church and that cemetery.  They could help us locate the gravestones.  I bet Mary W. Holt Gunter (born January 27, 1868) might be buried there, also.  What I have told you here was told to me about twenty years ago by Laverne Porterfield Skipper of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  She is the widow of Henry J. Skipper and the granddaughter of Nancy Emma Holt (born September 18, 1870) who was the sister of Mary Wesley Holt.

I am sending this e-mail to Holt and Mann Google Groups because I think many of those group members will be interested in this information.

Think I found Emiline 1860 census Wake married to Joseph and they lived near James Stevens (Stephens), Gaston, Jane, John & David.  1870 Emiline living with James,John, David and two sons William & John.  1880 has Emiline with William & John only so assuming James died.  Yes, she is buried at Bethel with Grandson John H.  He died from a sawmill accident in 1920.  Do you know of the area in Chatham County called Haw River and what it would be today?  Trying to find Mary Wesley Holt Gunter's grave.  Know a marker went up as found letters from family members but cannot find her in Haw River, Alamance Co.  Many thanks Gayle

Yes, William was the son of Zachariah, and Zach was the son of Silas & Polly.  Emiline Stephens died in 1920 I think and is buried in Bethel Cemetery.
You could request a photocopy of her death certificate and if they have one for her, which they probably do, it may have on it her parents' names.  It is supposed to, but some do not.  Go here to request: http://ncrec.dcr.state.nc.us/ArchivesMailer/ArchivesMailer.asp
If you get one, please scan and share with me.  I wonder if she is the Emily Stephens in the Crawford and Gilly Stephens household in 1850 in Chatham County.  I can't find a better match than this Emily.  She was 12 in 1850.  Emeline Gunter was supposedly born in 1840 according the gravestone.

Subject: Zachariah Mann

Been working on Ernest Tavie Mann married my Ora Estelle Gunter.  Found he was the son of William T Mann and Maturie Holt.  William son of Zachariah Mann and Martha Patterson (?).  Guess I need to know if Zach was the son of Silas & Polly Mann?  Maturie Holt was the daughter of George Holt and Elizabeth - may have that info in the Holt file.  Started a little research on Emiline Stephens of Wake Co., but haven't put enough effort into it. She married my Joseph Gunter in 1860 in Wake Co.  Have a great reunion and wish I could be there but having to play nurse again.  Take care & many thanks for your help.  Gayle
