Just a note to thank all my friends, fans and family who have offered their thoughts, prayers, assistance and all kinds of support during my recent bout with prostate cancer. It's truly heartwarming to know how many people care, and you have no idea how much even simple expressions of concern helped me keep up my determination. Thank you all so much.
It was two weeks ago today that I underwent surgery to remove the prostate and have been recovering steadily ever since. No work (well, not much anyway!), just a lot of relaxing and allowing the healing process to take place. And a LOT laughter courtesy of episodes of "Big Bang Theory" and "Seinfeld".
The pathology report suggests that the cancer was contained within the prostate and my surgeon has high confidence (80-85%) that the cancer is now gone. However, one can never be truly sure in such matters; if, for example, a wayward cell or two managed to escape elsewhere, upcoming blood tests will so indicate and we can do some tweaking if necessary. Considering everything, it appears we beat this one!
It'll take a few more weeks (or possibly months) to return to my normal high-energy state but, as anyone who knows me might expect, I'm attacking this with my typical passion and determination. I hope to be back at the keyboard over the weekend, and behind the camera by the end of June.
So, while there's some recovery ahead for me, I'll close with the famous words of "Seinfeld" characters Frank and George Costanza:
"I'm back, BAABBYYYYY!!"
