Hi All

I am just emailing to let you know that I have received an email from the organisers of the Mahurangi Regatta advising that they are planning to decide tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon whether or not to cancel the beach events in the light of the weather forecast.

I had agreed to coordinate the Master of the Mahurangi race again this year - but I plan to recommend that if they cancel the beach events they should cancel the Master of the Mahurangi Race as well - not because most dories could not handle the conditions, but because it's the whole event that attracts people and coming just for the big rowing race doesnt justify the effort.

If you don't agree, please get back to me by 10am tomorrow.

Please get back in touch with me if you would like any other information.

If the weather forecast is wrong and the event is held, please note that the event starts at 11am.
For more info about the Regatta, see http://www.mahurangi.org.nz/Regatta/2011/General-Format.html

Regards, Keith

Subject: Mahurangi Regatta Shoreside Events Possibility of Cancellation

Hello Keith

Today’s MetVUW charts reinforce the earlier forecasts for a wild and wet weekend. Consequently, it is increasingly likely that the beach events will be cancelled.

A final decision regarding cancellation of the beach events will be made tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon.

The sailing will likely proceed, with the centreboard sailing more likely to be cancelled than the main event.

It could be that you elect to hold the Master of the Mahurangi in conditions not conducive to the beach events being held.

Kind regards

Cimino
