I swam in Wingra last night. I wore my normal summer tri wetsuit with sleeves and no addional layers. The water on the surface is warmer than the deeper water but in either location my hands and feet were fine and not too cold. The face gets a little cold at first but soon goes away once you warm up. The water is already green but the weeds are well below the surface. The water is clear enough to see your hands. I forgot my thermometer but I'm guessing upper 50s. As long as the air is not too cold this is very comfortable.

Sleeves would be good for another week or two then not necessary after that. I would also suggest doubling up swim caps for another week or so too.

There were two other triathletes just getting out of the water when I got there. There were also about 6 children playing in the water at the beach. If little kids can get in with just their swimsuits on you should be able to too.

So the official start of the Monday 6PM swim group will be next Monday, May 19th.

Be there or B^2.

There were about 15 people in the water last night (5/19/08), and not
one of them got hypothermia. Next Monday is a Holiday so the 6 PM swim
may or may not happen. I won't be there due to party conflicts. I may
swim earlier in the day though.
